Welcome to FNCE 3415 Valuation & Financial Statement Analysis

Learn the theory and practice of financial statement analysis and valuation — using data and models to solve real business problems with incomplete information, and becoming genuinely proficient in Excel along the way.

Before our first class — Tuesday, September 1

Read the syllabus. Policies, grading, and how to succeed in the course.
Complete the Syllabus Assignment on Brightspace. A quick check that confirms you've reviewed the course setup.
Sign up for an introductory meeting. A short one-on-one so we can meet before the semester ramps up.

How this course works

The course runs in 8 modules. Each one follows the same rhythm, so you learn the pattern once:

Before class: watch the assigned lecture and Excel videos and complete the homework.
In class: a short concept quiz to start, then worked examples, cases, and group exercises.
After the module: a take-home Excel quiz on Brightspace (opens 6:00 pm the evening of the module's last class, closes that Sunday).
Across the term: we build a complete valuation of one company (Rivian, RIVN) step by step, while your group values a company of its own for the semester project — with two milestones, a final presentation, and a cumulative oral exam.
